Mount St. Joseph Academy is proud to announce the Class of 2019 valedictorian, Victoria Ann Tracy.
Victoria is the daughter of Lisa and Tom Tracy of Chittenden. She attended Barstow Memorial School before continuing on to the Academy. While attending MSJ, Victoria earned varsity letters in soccer, basketball, softball, and cheerleading. In her junior and senior years, she was captain of both the soccer and softball teams.
Victoria was involved in many clubs and activities at MSJ, including the Josephite Chapter of the National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, Campus Ministry, Yearbook Committee, Prom/Homecoming Committee, and the Shoestring Theater Company.
In her sophomore year, she was selected to attend both the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Conference as well as the Congress of Future Medical Leaders. Victoria was elected as one of two class representatives for each year of her high school career as well as being elected student body president her senior year.
Victoria will attend Catholic University of America in the fall, pursuing a politics major on a pre-law track.
Kristen Elizabeth Elliott has been named the class of 2019 salutatorian.
Kristen is the daughter of Daniel and Lori Elliott of Pittsford. She attended Christ the King School prior to attending MSJ.
She is a member of the Josephite National Honor Society, the Spanish Honor Society, and the Tri-M Honor Society. An active participant in athletics and school activities, Kristen is a student ambassador, member of the Shoestring Theater Company, and the MSJ band and chorus.
As a Three-Plus-Three Scholar Athlete, she has received varsity letters in soccer, basketball, tennis, and cheerleading. She has been team captain for soccer and tennis.
She was a member of the MSJ three-time Vermont State Championship basketball team. As an active member of the Rutland community, Kristen is a volunteer at Rutland Regional Medical Center, where she has completed over 200 hours of service.
Kristen will attend The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. in the fall, majoring in Nursing.
Mary Margaret Babb has been selected as the Class of 2019 Veritas et Puritas Award recipient.
A resident of Rutland City, Mary is the daughter of Guy and Christine Babb. She attended Christ the King School before enrolling at Mount St. Joseph Academy.
Throughout high school, she has been a mentor to the Christ the King School’s FIRST LEGO League team and a member of Rutland Area Robotics IBOT team, qualifying for the FIRST Robotics World Championship three out of the last four years. An active member of the music and theater community, Mary is the treasurer of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, a participant in the New England and Vermont District Music Festivals, has performed in both MSJ Shoestring Theater and Rutland Youth Theater productions, and assisted with the spring musicals at Christ the King School.
She actively participates in worship as an altar server at Christ the King parish since 2010 and is a member of the MSJ choir at weekly Mass. In sports, Mary was a member of the varsity soccer team at MSJ and played on both MSJ and Proctor varsity softball teams.
Mary will attend University of Vermont in the fall, pursuing a degree in Anthropology with a concentration in Archaeology.
The Veritas et Puritas award recognizes outstanding character and service to others.
