Students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends of Mount St. Joseph Academy celebrated the 2018 homecoming weekend in a big way with a variety of games and activities.
The seniors for girls soccer and cross-country were honored before Friday’s girls soccer game against West Rutland. A large and energized crowd turned out to see off the seniors.
Following the game, everyone was off to the Martin McDonough Gymnasium for the Homecoming Pep Rally. Students carried on the tradition of the senior call-downs and competed in a series of contests. A large turnout of family and friends saw students compete in an obstacle course, jello-eating contest and a race to drink a baby bottle full of Gatorade. The crowd then went to the bonfire at St. Peter’s field.
Saturday saw the boys soccer game, where the senior boys on the team as well as the senior cheerleaders were honored before the game. Following the game, alumni, staff and students competed in flag football at St. Peters field.
Following Homecoming Mass, the Development Office held an Alumni Reception at the McDonough Gymnasium. Alumni and friends of MSJ enjoyed an evening of local favorites, including Gill’s Delicatessen, Ted’s Pizza Shop, Thelma & Louise Deli and Sub Shop, The Palms, Maxie’s Deli, Franklin Center at the Howe, Avellino Bakery & Pizza, Roots the Restaurant, Baker Distributing, Vermont Truffle Co., Southside Steakhouse.
The weekend was capped off by the homecoming dance for students.
Our community had a great time at homecoming 2018. We look forward to seeing you next year!
