All first-year students are required to take six credits in the following courses: Religion (a full year is required for each year of attendance), English (four full years are required for graduation), Mathematics (three years minimum requirement prior to graduation), Science (three years required to graduate), Social Studies (three years, one of which must be United States History) and World Language (three years required in sequence). In addition, students may elect to participate in semester courses in Art, Chorus, or Instrumental Music. This policy will change for the Class of 2017 and beyond. The first-year curriculum at Mount St. Joseph is intended to provide our students with the academic fundamentals they will build on in future years of study and, in spirit and deed, to initiate them into an active community life.
