Dear Parents of Mounties~

Things are very quiet around MSJ this week as our students focus on studying for and completing their exams. I am always amazed at how serious our students are about their work. They are in full exam mode right now and it is obvious that they are spending a lot of time concentrating on their work. I am so proud of all that these students are doing academically as I am sure all of you are. It is simply amazing how our students are able to juggle so much and to succeed in so many areas. They are even positive in their failures. I was thinking about this this past weekend when I watched two wonderful basketball games played by both the boys and girls teams. No one was hanging their head. They all knew that they had given it their all and done their best. Those are life lessons being taught to our kids and those lessons will be remembered long after they move on from lessons in Algebra and History. I am proud of each and every one of them for all they do every day and for all that they manage. They are truly unique and wonderful young people. This is true in their faith as well. It is obvious in the way that they treat each other and support each other. I watched this at the basketball games as well. It is awesome to look over and see almost the entire student body in attendance at the game as was the case this weekend. I love that they all cheer each other on and raise their hands, moving them back and forth in silence when a foul shot is being attempted. I love it even more when I see my own son raise his hands as he saw the older kids do; emulating all those wonderful MSJ students. I couldn’t ask for better role models! Thank you for all you have done to make your children whom they are and thank you for sharing them with our MSJ community!.

We will be continuing to follow the traits of Christ in giving to those less fortunate through Catholic Schools week. Our intention is to give back to our community by collecting new socks for both adults and children. Christ the King School will be joining us in this effort. Mrs. Guggenberger and I have challenged our student body to collect 500 pairs of new socks to donate to the Open Door Mission and the local Women’s Shelter. If the CKS and MSJ students are able to meet this challenge by Wednesday, January 28th, 2015, Mrs. Guggenberger and I will be completing a challenge given to us by the student body as well. We will have a box available for these socks in the lobby. We will be giving our students and community a count of socks collected thus far next week.

Bishop Christopher Coyne’s installation as Bishop of the Diocese of Burlington will occur at a Mass to be celebrated on January 29th, 2015 at 2pm in Burlington at the Cathedral. MSJ will be represented by 6 students, two will be in the choir, two will hand out programs and two will sit with me as members of the spiritual community. We are very excited and honored to have been chosen to attend this event.

It’s Early Registration Time! From January 1st through February 28th, MSJ will be offering an Early Registration fee of $125 per student not to exceed $250 per family. This is a savings of $50 per student. Please plan to register your student for next year before this deal is over. After February 28th, the regular registration fee will be in effect at $175 per student not to exceed $350 per family. The registration form is available online or in the MSJ front office. Please feel free to contact us with any questions!
