GUIDANCE
Students come first at Mount St. Joseph and we make every effort possible to assist every student in reaching their learning goals. With one of the lowest student-to-guidance counselor ratios in Vermont—better than half that of many schools and as much as two-thirds better than some educational institutions—MSJ ensures that every student—from first-year to fourth-year and every one in between—receives the personal attention and help they need to be successful in their chosen path.
For first-year students that means help making the transition into high school and the rigors of a demanding academic life with the expressed goal of a post-secondary education. For third-year students it means the beginning of the college application and selection process when they receive a binder with college information including: information about applying, a résumé guide, advice on SAT (Student Aptitude Test) and ACT (American College Test), as well as registration forms for the tests. For graduating students it means receiving help with college applications, essay editing, reviewing résumés, monitoring deadlines, making recommendations about what a successful college experience looks like, and helping to match their career goals with the right institution.
