Gides To Take Guidance Helm

Learning Specialist Brings Experience to MSJ

Beginning in the fall of the 2008 school year, Rutland native Lorin Gides will take over guidance duties from departing counselor Charles “Chip” Stevens. Lorin brings her 14 years of experience as a learning specialist to the position. “I’m going to continue to build on the college preparatory program established by Chip and will work with students, parents, and faculty to develop educational growth opportunities”, said Gides. Currently teaching in Proctor, Lorin graduated from the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas. She received her Masters in Education from the College of St. Joseph and has worked in Texas, Massachusetts, and Vermont. Lorin’s immediate plans are to open up avenues of communication relevant to each grade level and to develop a college resource center.

When asked why she was making the move to Mount St. Joseph, Gides said, ” I believe in Catholic education and want to help it grow and ensure that it’s available for my children. This is a great opportunity for me to help make MSJ a success.”

Lorin resides in Rutland City with her husband and two children, both of whom attend Christ the King School.
