Mount Saint Joseph Academy has named Tracy Tedesco as the next head coach of the MSJ cheerleading program.  Coach Tedesco will bring over 20 years of experience in coaching cheerleading to MSJ.
Currently, Tedesco is the co-owner of Peak Performance  Studio ~ All Star Cheer & Fitness in Rutland, where she works with all ages and levels of competitive cheerleading.  She has also been actively involved with the Rutland Area Recreation Cheer Program and is a certified Competition judge in both New Hampshire and Massachusetts.   Tedesco previously was the junior varsity and varsity cheerleading coach at Mill River, and most recently served as the assistant varsity and junior varsity cheerleading coach at Rutland High School.
Tedesco’s plans include once again entering MSJ into competitive cheer competitions, which will add a facet to MSJ student life that has been missing since the 1980s.  Her program will stress fundamentals and conditioning, while aligning style and technique with the most current competitive trends.
Tedesco stated that she wants the “cheerleaders to be a driving force behind spirit at the school” and that cheerleading is “about building spirit at the school and building personal skills at the same time.”
Tedesco said that the lessons learned by each individual cheerleader can be quite different but that she feels that “cheerleading  helps to instill confidence in students at the critical time that they are coming into their own as young adults.”  She explained that, “I want my cheerleaders to be strong leaders, who are fully involved in the life of the school, inside the classroom and outside of it.”

Tedesco added that “I really enjoyed coaching at Rutland, however, I am  truly thrilled to get started at MSJ.”  She emphasized the importance of the relationship of the schools to each other — and to the Rutland community.

Mount Saint Joseph Academy is a college preparatory Catholic high school located in Rutland, Vermont, specializing in educating the mind and spirit for more than a century.
